Streamlining Recovery: Sharjah Police Offer Faster Insurance Claims and Traffic Fine Relief

Sharjah residents impacted by the recent floods can breathe a sigh of relief thanks to a new initiative from the Sharjah Police. Recognizing the urgency and financial burden associated with flood damage, the authorities have implemented a two-pronged approach to ease the claims process and offer some well-needed support.

Faster Claims with Free "To Whom It May Concern" Certificates

One of the biggest hurdles residents often face after a flood is obtaining official verification of the damage sustained. Traditionally, this involved a trip to the police station and potentially incurring associated fees. Thankfully, the Sharjah Police have eliminated these obstacles by offering free "To Whom It May Concern" certificates through their official mobile app.

This crucial document acts as official proof of flood damage to vehicles or properties. Residents can now conveniently request this certificate within minutes through the app, significantly expediting the insurance claim process. Faster certificate issuance allows residents to receive compensation quicker and begin repairs on their flood-damaged cars or properties without unnecessary delays.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Obtaining a "To Whom It May Concern" Certificate

To avail of this convenient service, residents can follow these simple steps:

  1. Download the App: First things first, download the Sharjah Police Smart Mobile App from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Navigate to Services: Once downloaded and opened, locate the menu at the bottom of the screen and select the option representing "Services" (typically an icon resembling a service card).
  3. Find Police Services: Within the "Services" section, look for "Police Services" (usually represented by an icon of a police officer).
  4. Request the Certificate: Scroll down within "Police Services" and locate the option for the "To Whom It May Concern" certificate. Select this to initiate the certificate request process.
  5. Provide Personal Information: The app will ask if the certificate is for yourself or someone else. Choose "Self" and proceed. Next, under "certificate type," select "destruction" and choose your user type – resident, tourist, or citizen. Depending on your selection, you'll be prompted to provide either your Emirates ID number (resident/citizen) or passport details (tourist).
  6. Verification and Details: Enter your email address. You'll receive a one-time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify your identity. Now, provide the specifics of the car damage. Under "destruction type," select "vehicle" (if applicable) and indicate the location and date when the incident occurred. Choose the responsible police station from the provided list. Finally, detail the damage sustained by your vehicle.
  7. Requesting Authority and Proof: Select "To Whom It May Concern" as the requesting authority. Alternatively, you can choose your insurance company from the dropdown menu if you prefer them to receive a copy directly. Finally, attach clear pictures of the damage to your vehicle for verification purposes. Once everything is complete, submit your request for the certificate.
  8. Receive Your Certificate via Email: Following your submission, you'll receive the "To Whom It May Concern" certificate via email. The certificate itself should be attached to the email as a downloadable file, most commonly in PDF format.

Traffic Fine Relief for Challenging Weather Conditions

In a further gesture of support, the Sharjah Police have announced the waiver of certain traffic fines incurred during the recent weather depression in the UAE. It's important to note that this leniency only applies to specific offences committed under challenging weather conditions. Serious violations that endanger public safety will still be subject to penalties.

This initiative aims to provide some financial relief to residents who may have received traffic citations while navigating flooded roads or dealing with the aftermath of the storm. Understanding the difficulties residents faced during the floods, the Sharjah Police are demonstrating their commitment to public well-being by offering this additional measure of support.

Empowering Residents During Recovery

The proactive measures taken by the Sharjah Police showcase their dedication to facilitating a smoother recovery process for residents impacted by the floods. By streamlining the insurance claim process with free online certificates and offering some leniency on traffic fines, the authorities are empowering residents to focus on repairs and recovery during this difficult time. This two-pronged approach not only eases financial burdens but also provides essential support to help residents get back on their feet as quickly as possible.
