Snow Plough Operator Job

Impressions Group Ottawa Inc., based in Kanata, Ontario, is hiring part-time, seasonal Sidewalk Snowplough Operators to help manage snow and ice during the winter season. With an hourly pay ranging from $30 to $35, this role offers flexibility in working hours, which can vary from 7 to 60 hours weekly, depending on snowfall and demand. 

The position begins on November 1, 2024, with shifts available during the day, evening, night, weekends, early mornings, and even on-call as weather conditions require.

Position Requirements

No formal education is required for this role, but having previous experience with snow removal or operating related machinery is an advantage. Candidates must perform all tasks on-site, with no remote options available. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are necessary, along with a clean driving record, as operators will need to travel to different locations around Kanata and the surrounding areas.

Responsibilities and Daily Duties

The Snowplough Operator will be responsible for keeping sidewalks, streets, and other public spaces free of snow and ice, ensuring safety and accessibility. Key tasks include removing snow from sidewalks, streets, and building grounds and loading it into carts or trucks. Operators will also spread sand or salt as needed to prevent ice buildup and ensure traction on slippery surfaces. Other duties include cleaning public grounds, sweeping debris, and maintaining the sidewalks after each snow event.

Specialised Equipment and Skills

Experience with specific equipment is beneficial, especially if familiar with snowploughs, snow blowers, and skid steer machinery. These skills will help operators complete tasks effectively and quickly, especially in areas with heavy snowfall.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

This job requires endurance and the ability to work in cold, wet, and damp environments. Snowplough operators should be prepared for physically demanding tasks and repetitive motions, often in chilly weather. Steel-toed safety boots are required to ensure personal safety while working on sidewalks and other surfaces.
